It was all
a dream.
And a lot of “you should sell these.”
Hi, I’m Mel, the heart and hands behind Baked by Mel.
What started as a hobby became something I loved more than I expected. I found myself baking for friends, showing up with something sweet, and looking for any excuse to make another batch.
There’s something special about walking into someone’s home with homemade treats. Setting them on the table, cutting a few slices, and watching everyone reach for a bite while the conversation keeps going. Or getting to the end of a long week, sitting down with your favorite person, and indulging in a little something just because.
Those are the moments that made me fall in love with baking. The treats were part of it, of course, but so was the way they made people feel.
A hobby that found its purpose.
Friends kept telling me, “Mel, you need to sell these.”
At first, I laughed it off. I was happy making things for the people I loved. But somewhere between the shared loaves, requests for another batch, and encouragement from friends, I started wondering what could happen if I took this little dream seriously.
So I took a step of faith.
Baked by Mel became a way to share something I love while doing something that matters deeply to me: serving people.
A little sweetness can mean a lot.
My faith shapes the way I see this business. I believe God gives each of us gifts we can use to love and serve others, and I’m learning to be faithful with what He’s placed in my hands.
For me, that looks like time in the kitchen, care in the details, and making something that someone else gets to enjoy.
My hope is that every order helps you make someone feel loved. Maybe it’s a thank-you for a friend, a cake for a milestone, or something waiting on the counter when your family comes home. I get to bake it, but you get to give it a place in your life. That’s a privilege I don’t take lightly.
